Afterwork: Building a Great Workplace

What makes a great work place? We at Futurice at least have an idea—we recently finished first in the Great Place to Work competition for mid-sized companies in Europe!

As a service provider we at Futurice believe that happy employees are everything—they are our “product”. If the product is excellent, happy customers and profitable business will follow. While growing very quickly from 20 to 150 employees we have also faced our pain points. Traditional management books proposed structures and hierarchy but that just did not work out. And why should it if we employ smart responsible people? So we started learning alternative organization models and built our culture on trust and transparency. At Futurice everyone is a “director” and can make big decisions as long as it is transparent to everyone and follows our 3x2 model ensuring that People, Customers and Numbers work today and tomorrow.

Afterwork: Building a Great Workplace discusses about modern company culture, management and organization models. Susanne Moosdorf used to head HR at a Berlin-based IT company 4flow which was selected as one of the best work places in Germany and Europe according to Great Place to Work -institute which she currently works for. Olaf Lewitz from a well-known agile coaching company Agile42 will talk about agile methods in work and our very own Group CEO Tuomas Syrjänen comes from Finland to discuss about transparency in organization.

Afterwork-event will continue with an office opening party until mid-night!
